Concerned Citizens of Forest Hills, Press Statement, March 24, 2025

Forest Hills, New York - "This is a sign that the police and City Hall are starting to realize how out-of-control the situation at the stadium has been,"  said Andy Court, president of the community group Concerned Citizens of Forest Hills.  "The Forest Hills Stadium and the West Side Tennis Club  brought this upon themselves by repeatedly violating the noise code and refusing to agree to reasonable restrictions on these events. They've been acting like they are above the law."

Some important things to keep in mind:

City inspectors issued summonses for noise violations 85 percent of the time they took readings in homes near the stadium last year  (11 out of 13 times.  They did not take indoor readings at all 37 events last year because of staffing issues.)

Forest Hills residents have submitted  numerous complaints to 311, the city Department of Buildings, the Department of Environmental Protection, the local community board, and the State Liquor Authority.  Concerned Citizens of Forest Hills  has a separate lawsuit, currently in appeals court, against the stadium and the West Side Tennis Club.

This coming season, the stadium planned to once again schedule concerts on school nights, even though parents have complained that it makes it hard for their children to study, sleep, and be prepared for school the next day.

The stadium is located in an area zoned residential.  It never conducted an Environmental Impact Statement or got a zoning variance before launching a commercial music business that held about 37 events last year.

"It is the unreasonable conduct of the stadium and the West Side Tennis Club that has precipitated this crisis,"  Court said.
